The only item that I produce in S scale is this speeder.

UPDATE January 27, 2008– I have test assembled and fit most of the latest batch of parts and taken some quick photos, which I have posted. There are still a few things that need to be tweaked, so please hold your comments and concerns back.

The window glass is pre-production, and the printed gaskets are somewhat messy. No brake shoe assemblies, engine, toolboxes, or fuel tank either. The gap above the windows will be fixed. I managed to leave out the holes for the lights on the CAD drawing, so there aren’t any lights on this pre-production model. The hitch is not the same as the production models. The brace that holds up the rear of the roof will be finer on the production models. There are some slots evident in the lower floor that are for the brake assemblies….the slots on the CAD drawing got misplaced somehow, so they will be moved on the production models to get the brake assemblies aligned with the wheels as they should be.  The wheels on this model are pre-production hi-rail wheels and will not have the needle points sticking out, or the same contour as in the photos. The trailer has some parts missing as well, specifically the hitch assembly is large and pre-production, and the rods that span the end projections aren’t added yet. The paint on this model is not a production shade, but simply what was sitting in my spray booth and something I knew would photograph well. I am sure I missed something in this description of things to be fixed, but be assured I will rectify everything prior to final assembly.

This is an all-brass, factory assembled and painted model. The model comes powered, with precision gearing, can motor, lights, and is DCC ready. The model is also available with a decoder factory installed for an extra charge of $45.00. This model will be sold only as a speeder/trailer set, with the trailer also used for extra electrical pickup. You do not have to run the trailer with the speeder.

The prototype for this model is a ca. 1970 Fairmont M14. This prototype was probably the most common speeder produced for railroads, and was in production virtually unchanged from about 1950 to 1985, with the only changes being a wheel size change in the mid 60’s and different engine options in various years.

The model is available in either NASG or HiRail wheels, in your choice of yellow, orange, green, and red color schemes, and with or without a DCC decoder. The decoder that I source is the Train Control Systems M1. The model is easily converted to DCC at a later time if you do not wish to order it with a decoder.

If you are interested in obtaining one of these models, and you are not on my pre-order list, please contact me. There may still be room to accommodate you in the production run because of cancellations and production overruns.

This model is priced at $325.00 US for a speeder/trailer set. Additional trailers will be available, also in limited supply, for $80.00 each.
