O3 End Cab locomotive kit
This kit is intended to fit onto one of many chassis. You can use the Life Like SW8, 9, 1200, the ConCor SW7, the Athearn SW7, or the Kato NW2. It will also fit onto the BLI SW model. There is minimal modification required to fit the body to the chassis, the kit body actually fits over top of the plastic models’ deck and hood. The cab must be removed. This model was designed to fit onto the top of the drives that were available, at the time I had an Athearn SW7 switcher on my work bench. I made sure that it would also fit onto a multitude of other drives, providing as much versatility as possible for the modeler. There is room inside the shell to add weight, DCC decoder, and sound if desired. The models coupler pockets will accept either Kadee #153 “whisker” couplers or McHenry couplers. The model has a basic one piece body, with separate pilots, steps, and details. Tools and supplies required to build the model kit are hobby knife, pin vise, #79 and 1/16” drill bits, 400 grit sandpaper, and CA glue. The kit comes complete with window glass material, screws for the couplers, and wire for all grab irons and handrails. This model does not include the “junk” that litters the model in the photos, but it does include such neat parts as the exhaust stack, bell and bracket, truck side frames, and air tanks.
