O1 Center Cab locomotive kit- $125.00
This resin kit is intended to fit onto the Bachmann Plymouth chassis, part #6002, 60039, or 60016. There is minimal modification required to fit the body to the chassis, the only work being the removal of the non-functional side frames on the drive, and removal of the center wheelset on the chassis, which is not geared anyhow. This entire operation takes about 5 minutes, requiring only a razor saw and small Phillips screwdriver . This model has no prototype. I simply designed this model as I went along, using CAD modeling and a bit of seat of the pants logic, keeping in mind the standard size of personnel, loading gauges, equipment, etc. CNC milling was used to create a lot of the pattern work. The model has a one piece body, with the cab integrated, and separate pilots, steps, frame, air tanks and other details. There is room inside the model for DCC decoder and sound. The Bachmann chassis already comes equipped with a high efficiency can motor and worm drive. A little lubricant on the motor shafts immensely improves the running of this nice, inexpensive drive. The models coupler pockets will accept either Kadee #153 “whisker” couplers or McHenry couplers. Tools and supplies required to build the model kit are hobby knife, pin vise, #79 and 1/16” drill bits, 400 grit sandpaper, and CA glue. The kit comes complete with window glass material, screws for the couplers, wire for all grab irons and handrails, and all the parts attached to the model that you see in the photo, except for the LEDs in the headlights.
